Carpal Tunnel
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a progressively painful hand and arm condition caused by a pinched nerve in your wrist. The pain is caused by the compression of the nerve at the wrist and is associated with motor deficit of the thenar muscles.
A number of factors can contribute to carpal tunnel syndrome, including the anatomy of your wrist, certain underlying health problems and patterns of hand use.
Bound by bones and ligaments, the carpal tunnel is a narrow passageway located on the palm side of your wrist. This tunnel protects a main nerve to your hand and nine tendons that bend your fingers. Compression of the nerve produces the numbness, pain and, eventually, hand weakness that characterize carpal tunnel syndrome.
Any massage therapy that is used for alleviating pain does so by relieving the pressure on the nerve and increasing the micro-vascular blood supply to the nerves so that the pain is lessened...
But, it takes several massage therapy sessions, weeks of wearing "the special glove," pain killers, sleepless nights due to the pain and discomfort and many weeks or even months before you might feel any better.
