Well, yesterday was the last of my second round of hirudotherapy treatments (medicinal leeches). It seems to have taken away the last of the tiny few spots of irritation that I had left. A little itching from one of the bites but not too bad and I know it'll be fine tomorrow. Looking forward to a month off but also looking forward to the next, and final, treatment schedule. So far I've found this to be remarkably effective in reducing the discomfort completely. I've also had some hair come back (photos to follow in the next few days). I've found this to be the most effective treatment I've tried so far. I'm also gluten free, cow dairy free (eating a little goat cheese), and I'm taking an iron ferritin supplement and a D3 supplement. As far as I can tell the shedding has stopped and overall my hair feels thicker. When I post the photos you can all tell for yourselves what you think.

"I want to thank Alicjia [Kolyszko] for joining the group [Alopecia,-LPP]. I see that she's trying to answer questions regarding hirudotherapy. I've visited the Russian site she advised. The translation is rough but somewhat helpful. I want to say that I know this is outside of most of our comfort zones and we're used to a very different type of medicine. Ihope you can all be comforted by my experience of this. I'm finding so many unexpected benefits from this treatment that it really feels like magic. Some problems that have been very longstanding are being addressed and resolved. Things I never thought could be helped, including having a very positive effect on my sister's Parkinson's, making her daily life better and with the hope of her being able to be self sufficient for a long time. As I said, my cataract is almost gone. I have herpes and have not had an outbreak since starting this treatment even though I've done everything I could to bring one on (usually nuts do the trick in a couple of days. I've eaten nuts every day for weeks just trying to make it happen and it wouldn't). Things too numerous to mention have been effected. As to my scalp. I feel that all of my symptoms, including hair loss, are down by 95%, and I consider that whatever is left is pretty much natural. I've had some regrowth and I'm hoping that further treatment will cause more.
I'm learning more about this all the time and frankly, I'm amazed at how beneficial this appears to be. I'm so glad I found out about medicinal leeches and didn't let it's cultural strangeness stop me from trying it. I think it's something I will use for the rest of my life, when problems arise. "... I know this is outside what we're used to but if you think about it, this is much more in keeping with nature. People and leeches have a long history together. It has been in their best interest to keep us as healthy hosts and so they developed (some of them) these many beneficial chemicals to help us. It's really quite amazing and in keeping with natural evolutionary practices. I'm happy to report here, after much skepticism on my part, that the cataract that was disturbing my left eye is about 80% better! I know this is shocking (and I absolutely DIDN'T believe it would help) but Alicjia [Kolyszko] said it would and damned if it didn't work. I'm able to drive at night again! I can't wait til my next eye exam to see my eye doctor's face when he checks. I was starting to think about surgery! Now it's not necessary. I'm totally amazed!

....I've had the pain going down my right leg from my back since New Year's Eve, 2010. The pain was terrible. I cannot sit or stand for too long. I am only 38 years old, for sake, and I was desperate! Pain, pain, pain and depression! The medicine prescribed (tramodol and naproxin) keeps sending me to sleep and I was waking up by spasms in my back.
It was like that until the mid of January, 2011- Naproxin, Ibuprofen, Codeine... nothing helped!
Then one day, believe me I marked that day on my calendar, while browsing on Internet, I came across a word: HIRUDOTHERAPY! I could't articulate this [d...] word! My name is Reilly. I'm 25 years old and I was referred to Alicia through a friend of mine. When I first heard of "Leech therapy" I must admit I was fairly intimidated; I then however, met Alicia. I immediately took note of her strong healing energy and tranquil nature (cause my heart was racing!). Her passion for healing people is evident and real.
I told her about a number of ailments through a thorough medical history to see if she thought she could help me. I didn't know then, but I was in luck. My chief complaints were the following: About eight months ago I was in a car accident where I sustained injuries to my back, neck (whip lash), jaw, and head (concussion). These injuries have completely altered my quality of life making both my job and my social life extremely difficult and minimized. I live in chronic pain and I have been through everything and back to try to alleviate my symptoms; seven months of chiropractic care 3x/week, trigger point therapy, botox injections in my neck for spasms, mouth braces, medical massage therapy...you name it, I have done it. Additionally, I have not had my menstrual cycle for approximately seven months. So, long story short, that's a lot of stuff~!
We began the treatments about two months ago. Alicia maintained an open line of communication with me, making herself available to me whenever I had any questions and concerns. We have been concentrating mainly on my jaw, which has remained the source of my most severe pain.........within the last two weeks, I have had more improvements and pain reduction in my jaw than I have had with any other treatment thus far. My jaw needed to be adjusted almost every minute, (which made me look pretty weird when having conversations with people), to now, about every half an hour, with a significant reduction in popping and clicking.
